Peripheral contrast echocardiographic findings of anomalous drainage of the right superior vena cava into the left atrium.

چکیده
A 1-year-old girl had cyanosis and signs of a "normal heart". Peripheral contrast echocardiography (M-mode and real time, two-dimensional) was performed with injection of saline into a superficial vein of the right hand. Contrast echoes did appear in the left atrium and ventricle, but did not in the right artium or ventricle. From these findings anomalous drainage of the right superior vena cava into the left atrium was suspected and was confirmed by cineangiocardiography.

Use of contrast echocardiography in diagnosis of anomalous connection of right superior vena cava to left atrium.
A 4-month-old infant with cyanosis but without other abnormal cardiac findings is presented in whom the diagnosis of anomalous systemic venous connection to the left atrium was made by contrast echocardiography. The diagnosis was later confirmed by cardiac catheterisation and selective cineangiography. When saline was injected into a vein on the dorsum of each hand while echocardiographically r...
متن کاملTotal Anomalous Systemic Venous Drainage with Heterotaxia Syndrome: A Rare Case
Total anomalous systemic venous return is a very rare anomaly, where vena cava inferior, vena cava superior, and coronary sinus drain into left atrium. Two-day-old male baby was admitted with cyanosis and tachypnea after the birth. Left atrial isomerism with anomalous systemic venous drainage was found on echocardiographic examination. We present an unusual case of total anomalous systemic veno...

A 74-year-old woman presented with progressive dyspnea and renal failure. A central line catheter was inserted percutaneously into the left internal jugular vein in the emergency department. A chest X ray was performed to document the position of the central line catheter (Fig. l), and revealed an unusual coarse, suggesting the possibility of a persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC). After ...

CONGENITAL cardiac defects involving the venous return to the heart and those affecting the partitioning of the atria should probably be considered as a group. The most commonly encountered and simplest to correct are defects in the interatrial septum of the ostium secundum type. Due to the lower resistance to emptying into the right ventricle from the two communicating atria, the shunt in such...
متن کاملThe echocardiographic diagnosis of totally anomalous pulmonary venous connection in the fetus.
BACKGROUND Infants with isolated totally anomalous pulmonary venous return often present severely decompensated, such that they are at high risk for surgical repair. On the other hand, if surgical repair can be safely accomplished, the outlook is usually good. Thus prenatal diagnosis would be expected to improve the prognosis for the affected child. OBJECTIVE To describe the features of isola...
